Women at the pinnacle of their professions — entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals – share the “one piece of wisdom” they believe any woman starting in her career should know.
Several studies have found that women mentoring women is the most effective strategy to develop tomorrow’s leaders and ensure long-term female leadership. India is one of the world’s fastest-expanding economies, but women must have an equal role for the country to reach its full potential.
Vandana Luthra
Vandana Luthra, the founder of VLCC, a beauty and wellness conglomerate, is a name to be reckoned with in the Indian corporate world. Her mother, an Ayurvedic doctor, was an inspiration to her. Vandana Luthra founded her company in 1989 and went on to define the country’s wellness market with VLCC’s enormous success. She is a winner of various honours and distinctions, including the Padma Shri (2013) by the Government of India and the Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2010) by The Enterprise Asia.
Shradha Sharma
Shradha Sharma is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of YourStory. Shradha spends her life via her stories. And thinks that each storey is unique and that each tale counts. Shradha worked for the Times of India and CNBC TV18 before launching YourStory. She has degrees from St. Stephens College in Delhi and MICA in Ahmedabad. In 2015, she was named one of the world’s 500 LinkedIn Influencers. Sharma also earned the L’Oreal Paris Femina Award for Online Influence in March of 2015.
Vineeta Singh
She is the founder and CEO of Sugar Cosmetics, also serves as a judge on the reality show Shark Tank India, which airs on Sony Entertainment Television. ‘Vineeta Singh,’ an Indian businesswoman, was born in Delhi, India. She finished her education at the Delhi Public School and Rama Krishna Puran in Delhi. Her husband’s name is Kaushik Mukherjee, and she has two children named Vikrant and Kaushik. In 2012, she became a co-founder of Fab Bag, and she just became the Chief Executive Officer of her own Sugar Cosmetics firm. Vineeta Singh received her Electrical Engineering degree from IIT Madras and her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. As previously stated, she is the Founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetic, a cosmetic brand with 35,000 points of distribution in 120 cities throughout India.
Suchita Salwan
Suchita Salwan, founder and CEO of Little Black Book (LBB), was tired of hearing complaints about Delhi being a boring city, so she decided to take matters into her own hands. She coupled her love of actively discovering new locations in Delhi with the confidence gained from her time at the BBC to launch a recommendation platform that has fast become the go-to site for millennials seeking tailored exploration of a city’s culture. Little Black Book (LBB), or Suchita’s labour of love as an entrepreneur, is already present in seven locations throughout India, with aspirations to grow further.
Shaili Chopra
Shaili Chopra is a business journalist, author, and entrepreneur from India. She is the founder of SheThePeople.TV, a platform dedicated to empowering women via role model tales and inspiring them through a changing discourse about women and what is important to them. As a business journalist, she is well-known for her work at NDTV-profit and ETNOW, and she has received several honours, including the 2012 Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Business Journalism. She later became an entrepreneur and authored four books. SheThePeople.TV, India’s women’s channel, and GolfingIndian.com are two of her enterprises.
